If you love calculations, formulas, experiments, and innovations, then STEM strand is just right for you! If you are still wavering and unsure if you should pursue this strand due to common stereotypes, I assure you that most of them, if not all, are just false rumors.
Speaking from my personal experience, I was also hesitant before applying to this strand because I was not too confident with my skills when it comes to Mathematics and other subjects which requires computations. Despite that, I still chose to apply to this strand since at that time, I wanted to pursue a STEM inclined course in college. It appeared that I was completely wrong with thinking that you have to be really good in math and memorization in order to excel in this strand. I realized as I studied that willingness to learn and perseverance to do trial and errors is what it takes to do well. The desire to discover and dedication to solve a problem even with many trial and errors are what makes one excel in this strand. Take note that curiosity is the first step in discovery!
Even after realizing that STEM is not inclined to what I wish to pursue in college, I do not regret taking strand for it can still be a base of many subjects in college. Although, I think that applies to all strands for they only differ in some aspects of specializations. Do not be pressured of how it may affect your future course or such! Whichever strand you take would still prepare you for college, so choose whichever you think is the best for the current you!
